sloowww down

you know those weeks when the week hasn't even started yet, but you already know, just thinking about it, that it's going to be a crazy busy exhausting week and you won't get anything done? well it's one of those weeks for us. and i'm not so much enjoying it! but i kind of got myself (and by myself, i mean both Jae and i...sorry Jae) into it.

you see, we are house-sitting/dog-sitting for the entire week - aka from this past saturday night through this coming sunday night. we've done it many times before, but never had our own puppy in the mix of things. and now we do. and it's.....ok.

so basically, we're just trying to keep our heads above water and make it til at least friday. i think friday through sunday shouldn't be too bad. and don't get me wrong, the dogs aren't too bad, really. it's just being so busy with both Jae and i having our two jobs each and our own puppy and going from salt lake to west bountiful and back multiple times during the week. see what i mean?? bobbing...bobbing...in the water...

a few pictures for viewing pleasure, because my mind can't think of anything good to write about......
{sorry - they're all taken with my phone, and yes, most have to do with the pup...she's our baby, what can i say?}
Zoey watching her new tag getting made! she was interested for about 3.2 seconds
and then just wanted to get down, but i thought it was neat!

trying to get a picture of Zoey with her new cute tag, but she wasn't having it.
she did NOT like it so she decided to be a little punk and hide it from me.

see the girl in the hat? yeah...she walked into Primary Children's (yes, a children's hospital) as a visitor to a patient, dressed like that. she might as well have been in her bikini. oh and she had a
massive tattoo down her side too. seriously? classy.

jazz game. went into OT. ryan was a little drowsy...

this is what daddy and Zoey look like after a long, hot walk. they're bff's.

that one disease

while browsing pinterest, i came upon this and immediately thought of my Jae...and how it so does not apply to him haha

he doesn't let diabetes stop him! he'll eat the chocolates anyway. and then worry about the insulin ;) love you honey! you're still my favorite, diabetes and all ;)

HAPPY WEEKEND FRIENDLY FRIEND FRIENDS!

a sweet spirit

in sacrament meeting this past sunday, (which last an hour and 25 minutes {!!!}, longest sac. mtg ever, but we won't dwell on that), a few brand new young men (so like, we're talking 12 years old) spoke. and a couple of them really surprised me. but one of them really stood out to me.

he was the first boy to speak, and he talked about how his grandpa had died when he was only 5 years old. he talked about how because he was so young, he didn't have many memories of his grandpa. he said how he was grateful for the Gospel and ability to see his grandpa again someday and get to know him better then. and during all of this, this little 12 year old boy started to cry.

there was no worry about being criticized by his friends or a need for 'being cool' getting in the way of how he was really feeling, and he let his emotions run free. i can't remember another time that a young boy expressed himself like that in front of an entire congregation. after speaking of his grandpa, he continued to share his testimony and love of the Gospel. it really impressed me, and in that moment, i wished i was more like that boy when i was 12. it was so sweet.

i only hope, now that i'm much older (and wiser, i'd like to think) than 12, that i will always have the courage and desire to get up and share my true feelings and be outwardly grateful for the things i care about most in my life. to let myself feel that vulnerable state, and embrace it. it's a special, humbling place. i can't even remember that boys name, but i thank him for that gentle reminder.

sidenote: speaking of church and speaking, guess who got asked to speak?
yep. yours truly and the hubs.
i guess that's what i get for wishing for more of those 'humbling' moments.
pretty much sums up how we feel about speaking..... ;)

JOKES!! we're totally stoked..and no, you cannot come to watch. thanks for asking.

weekend

we had a pretty laid back, easy weekend. i'll be honest, i spent a lot of it napping. it was kind of cold and rainy, so we didn't get out too much. which was a complete 180 from last weekend, and we welcomed the quiet.

best:
*grocery shopping with my sister
*Jae's last friday night spent working - i get him back starting this friday!
*sleeping in saturday morning and being super lazy
*making breakfast for Jae and i on our new griddle (tried turkey bacon for the first time - yum!)
*finding shirts on clearance at downeast for $5! yes, please!
*new set of pots and pans (not so much the buying them part, but it's nice to have some pots and pans)
*saturday afternoon snooze fest with Zoey
*spending time with good friends
*church
*sunday afternoon family naptime
*watching Inception (man that movie is c to the razy!)
*dinner with my family
*a visit to Jae's mama

worst:
*i get Jae back for friday's, but this was probably the last saturday he'll be home - work work work :(
*Zoey decided to pee on the bedroom floor - i picked her up real quick and took her outside but before i could get her collar/leash on her, she got away from me. i then spent a good 10-15 minutes chasing her around our yard trying to get her before she ran out in the street. man that dog can run fast. she thought we were playing. we were not playing.
*our driveway/garage/back patio filling up like a swimming pool during all the rain friday. it's a big problem.
*dropping the unopened grape juice on the floor just right so that the lid cracked open and sent grape juice splattering everywhere, including all over the fridge. nice.
*our pup, that chews anything and everything in site, found Jae's phone charger that was left hanging down on the floor. we're lucky she wasn't electrocuted.

another monday already? i wish you all luck.

one for the books

i think this year's Easter will be one of the most memorable Easter weekends in my life.

it started out the Sunday before, when Jae and i had the chance to attend the afternoon session of General Conference. I've never been to a session, and Jae has only once, a long time ago, so it was a new and lovely experience for us both (even if we were way up in the balcony!)

i felt a little weird taking my big camera in, so last minute, i took it out of my purse. when we arrived, i was kind of surprised how many people had their cameras or phones out, taking pictures of themselves in the conference center. i guess it wouldn't have been so strange to have my camera there, but i didn't really feel it was the place for picture taking anyway. so i have no pictures of us or the conference center, but it was all so huge and gorgeous as ever. wow that building is amazing. what a great opportunity. we're so fortunate to live where we do.

my sister and her oldest boy arrived monday afternoon from China. Mr. Hyde was scheduled to have surgery on Thursday at none other than Primary Children's (aka my place of employment). he had what was found to be a dermoid - or in other words, a build-up of tissue in his neck right by his thyroid that needed to be removed. it looked like a giant adam's apple. but since he's only 7 and it seemed to grow considerably in about a years time, my sister decided it wasn't a normal adam's apple, and it needed some checking into. they were instructed China wasn't the place for this surgery, so they came all the way back to Utah for it. we weren't complaining! we love having them here, even if it was only the two of them and not the whole family. here's Hyde post-surgery. he didn't so much feel like smiling.

Hyde's surgery went really well - they got it all out in one piece, and he was back home (to my other sister's house) friday morning. the next few days, the only way you would know he had surgery was by the little bandage on his neck. he was as good as new! take it easy?? no way.

and then it was Saturday. Saturday the 7th.
Saturday marks one of the best days of my life! and i dare say, Jae's too :) we spent most of our afternoon here...

{thank you, mary, for the picture}

for those that don't know, this is the Bountiful, Utah temple. it was a beautifully sunny afternoon. i'm not sure how to describe all that happened that day, except to say that it was a very very special time for us.

exactly 2 years and 3 months after the day we were married,
Jae and i were sealed
for time & all eternity.

everything was perfect. we had family and close friends there, and it was just perfect. a few things happened that didn't feel so coincidental that made the day even better. and i felt a love for my husband that i've never known before.

the whole experience was kind of a lot to take in, but i know it was one of the best decisions i've ever made. i couldn't be happier. Jae has made me one happy wife!

after the sealing was all done, everyone got together for a late lunch put on by my wonderful parents. it was so nice to just hang out and see everyone, eat lots of food and let it all soak in.

we spent the rest of saturday evening with family (Jae's dad and brother also were able to fly in for the weekend, which was so great!).

Sunday morning, we got up early for church. by the afternoon, all the out-of-towners were on their way back home. we took advantage of our quiet, warm Easter afternoon and spent it napping at home with our pup. we had a low-key dinner at my parents, went on a little late-afternoon walk with the pup, and then went home to bed. it was a great day to reflect on all the events of the last couple of days and to remember Christ and his sacrifice he made for us to enjoy the blessings that we do.

so like i said - one of the best Easter's ever. one we will never forget.
i love you forever, Jae.

i think we can all agree...

uh yeah...

{sidenote - tomorrow we will finally be getting internet. happy day!}

4.09.2012

an appetizer

our Easter weekend started with this...

can we say 16 oz???

{apologies to the vegetarians out there - namely my sister Kellie}

and i'm proud to report that my (rather slender) husband finished this entire plate (plus a few more rolls) and wasn't even sweatin it.

go Jae.

it was a crazy, fun, family-filled, tear jerker, sweet, peaceful weekend. all in one. i didn't take too many pictures because i just wanted to enjoy every minute. but, i do love Easter and it was a most memorable weekend indeed, so i will post more about it soon. xo.

4.04.2012

lately {the last couple of weeks}

we got our shower tile all finished. and by we, i mean Jae. i admit, i hardly helped one bit. he did awesome for this only being his second tiling job ever (the first being the floor tile!) and his first wall tiling. turned out well, i think.

how i spent my friday night while Jae was working - pride & prejudice, painted nails in a fun summery color, cuddled up in the blanket. (the pup was next to me but didn't feel like being photographed ;))

a warm, sunny drive with baby girl cuddled in my lap

the wind last week tried to take some of our siding with it. lovely, yes?
don't worry, we won and got it back.

our first fire of the season. this really was lovely!

my car hit a big mile marker - 100,000 miles! good times.
(and it was 77 degrees! that's even better times)

at work, we decided to make Easter baskets for the homeless kids. they turned out awesome!

i apologize for the lack of posts lately. just been busy busy and tired tired. also, turns out not having the internet at your house makes blogging that much more difficult....weird. my sister is here from China for the week (with just one of her kiddos) so we're even more busy trying to pack in as much craziness as we can before she leaves! work has been busy and stressful. Jae's started getting busier with the lawn care/landscaping business. which reminds me....

if you need any yard work/lawn care/aerating/spring clean up of any sort, let us know! Jae will be more than happy to help you out :)
*check out his website here*

happy first week of april!

zoey

first meeting Zoey - this is at the house we got her from. she was so nervous!

brought her home and put her in her new bed for the first time

sooo sleeeepy. she loves her blanky.

playing on mom and dad's bed in our new house. we already threw that toy away, it was so chewed apart.

she's was so little. she's already grown so much, i can't believe it!

being shy :)
wait what? shy?? no way. she is not shy!
sick of me taking pictures? maybe..

she loves to play with her daddy. and cuddle with him. and follow him around.
and just look at that belly! isn't it cute? haha.

it's ok...go ahead and say it..we're a little obsessed with our pup. she's like our baby, and we love her. although lately, she's getting this attitude. she found her voice and barks a lot more than she did the first week or so. if she's really tired and you even remotely touch her, she growls and tries to nip at you. she's definitely a grump when she's really worn out. (like her mother.) she's mostly potty-trained. she still forgets sometimes or she gets excited when the nieces and nephews are around. but she does pretty good. sleeps through the night fine (as long as she's right up between Jae and i, which is fine because she's so little) and is awful cute and sweet in the mornings when she's just waking up. she's a little stink sometimes but we love her!
