number six.

today is jae's and my 6th wedding anniversary. it's hard to remember life before him, yet i often stop to wonder how we're old enough to be buying houses and having babies.

there are always ups and downs in life and in marriage, but i can't say there's been too much to complain about the last six years. i got lucky with this guy, and i wouldn't have anything any other way.

in the last 6 years, we've:
.had 12 jobs (we've both had multiple jobs at once {which is a terrible idea, by the way})
.owned 2 homes
.had 1 dog
.moved (soon to be) 5 times
.lived in 2 cities (wow, we're living life on the edge!)
.gone on amazing trips (china, california, malaysia, singapore, new hampshire, hawaii)
.owned 5 vehicles
.owned and sold 1 business
.had 2 BEAUTIFUL babies

can't wait for the adventures ahead!

{this was post-cake smash, hence the white stuff all over :)}

5 years.

jae and i celebrated 5 years of marriage a few weeks ago. since last year we had a 2 month old, we ended up just staying downtown SLC and taking the baby with us. which was great! but now that she's 15 months, we decided a night or two by ourselves was much needed.
jae planned a few days away at one of our favorites - the Zermatt resort in midway. it was a perfect way to start our new year and a perfect way to celebrate these 5 years together.
we ate at a yummy Mexican place, swam in the crater, soaked up the heat in the steam room, ate a fancy meal at the homesteads restaurant (simon's), went on a little railroad day trip, had some more yummy food, slept in (until 8!!! haha), and best of all - basically just did whatever the heck we wanted. and it was amazing. of course, i was texting my sister the entire time to check up on gracie girl and make sure she was sleeping and eating and everything. and of course, she did great the entire time. we enjoyed every minute and mostly only took time to take pictures of scenery and food.
it was beautiful and wintery and everything was covered in frozen white magicalness. even though i am not one to love winter or snow or single digit temperatures, i cannot deny that it was lovely up there.

thanks for another amazing year, jae, and another amazing trip and
for being the perfect husband for me!

celebrating 4 years.

we celebrated our 4 year anniversary two months ago now....

since we had a 2.5 month old and not a lot of extra time to get away, i planned a stay-cation for us to celebrate this year.

we started it out with some five guys.

then we headed downtown SLC to the Grand America where we just hung out. no big plans (well, i did want to go swimming since it would be Gracie's first time at the pool, but turns out they charge an extra $10 just to go swimming.....i wasn't up for that, especially considering who knew with Gracie if we would be there for an hour or 5 minutes). we did stop at a couple shops in the hotel and got some chocolate covered strawberries and gelato. SO good.

we took Gracie with us for a few reasons, and i was glad we did. it didn't in any way make our celebrating not fun. i probably would've just been stressing over her and how she was if we had left her with someone. and besides, she's super cute so we just took lots of pictures of her :) (and none of us! haha)

this was just hilarious....she kept leaning too far over and then she'd just slowly slide til she fell all the way over on her side. she wouldn't cry or get upset - just look at me like 'uh....guys..'

she's been one of the best things about our life and our marriage so far, so why not celebrate with her, right?
oh - we did go to dinner too that night. olive garden. Gracie wasn't super happy during dinner, so it was short and sweet.

here's to the next 4 years, and the next 4 after that!

one of those kinds.

this past weekend was pretty spectacular.
the last few weekends before that weren't the greatest, but even if they weren't bad, this one would've still beat 'em out.

for starters - conference weekend.
inspiration, spiritual filling of the soul, peace, love, snuggles (maybe even some *happy* tears).
saturday was the one year anniversary of both Jae and i going through the temple for the first time.
and sunday was our one year anniversary of being sealed for eternity in the temple.
that on top of an already excellent conference weekend with lovely spring weather??!

talk about a recipe for perfection.

my cute mom made us a cake with one candle on top (and sent the extra homemade chocolate frosting with us too...) to help celebrate our little anniversary.

we got lucky and scored some tickets to the sunday morning session (and it happened to be the one that both Pres. Uchtdorf and Pres. Monson spoke in....bonus!).

i was afraid we'd get stuck in pouring rain sunday morning when going to conference, but we didn't. it lightly sprinkled for just a few minutes as we walked in. being with my love in a place like the conference center, listening to our prophetic leaders and having the spirit so strong, confirming everything they're saying....well, let's just say i need that more in my life. it was one of those kinds of weekends you wish you could record and put on repeat.

sidenote: i read this post today on this similar subject and really loved it.
thought i'd share in case you missed it.

number three.

Jae and i celebrated our third anniversary!

it was his turn to plan things, and he was very adament that it was all a surprise, so i didn't know anything about where we were going or what we were doing, except that he told me which days to take off work.

we left sunday after church. we dropped pup off at grandma's and headed to the freeway.
after about an hour of driving, we ended up at the beautiful zermatt resort in midway!

neither of us have stayed here before and it was so fun!
apparently our anniversary is at a good in-between time for the resorts (between christmas and sundance film festival) so the place was pretty empty. we got a free room upgrade which was super nice! a mini kitchen, HUGE jetted tub, fireplace.....SO cute and cozy.

we spent our couple of days roaming the hotel, swimming, getting massages and foot rubs, eating, sitting in the steam room, more swimming and hot tubbing, more eating, enjoying the fire both in our room and in the lobby area, lounging in our robes, drinking complimentary hot apple cider, and soaking in the jetted tub. it was fabulous. oh, and the best part? we walked in our room for the first time and Jae had called and had them put rose petals all around the room...on the floor, the bed, the tub. this guy is a winner, ladies. a real winner. and i am so happy i get to keep him for forever.

{please excuse poor phone picture quality)

i love you Jae!
