this one time i tried to make simple brownies and messed it up

leave it to me....

i was mixing the ingredients, getting it all ready to pour into the pyrex, and thinking it was looking/feeling a little thick. i'm no brownie/baking/cooking/anything of the sort expert, so i just went with it. after i had poured about half of it out into the greased pan, i realized i hadn't added ONE of the THREE ingredients...

water.
lovely.
i mean, come on, there's only 3 ingredients!

well, at least i noticed something wasn't right...right?
i wasn't sure how well it'd work to add the water at that point or how well it'd work to put the batter back into the mixing bowl, with all the PAM mixed in with it now, so i just decided to continue pouring, bake it, and see what happened. i had another brownie mix so i'd make that (the right way) too.

at that point, i wasn't sure whether i should take this as a sign to bake/cook more often and try to improve my (lack of) skills, or if i should just stop trying altogether.

so here's how both looked when they came out of the oven.
can you tell the difference?
probably not just by the picture, but honestly, you couldn't really tell in person either.
at least, i didn't think so.
i took both to family dinner, and everyone tried some of both.
and you know what?
some even preferred my dehydrated brownies better!
so there ya go.

in case you ever happen to forget to add water to your brownies, know that they'll probably still turn out ok.

  2. HAHA!!! You got me at the *forgot ONE of the THREE things* LOL. Baking actually really intimidates me which is why I usually avoid it.

  12. Thank the baking gods/goddesses! Or whomever! Because that's also what I just did and immediately searched to find out what would happen if water was omitted from brownie batter mix. I have never did this mess up before. And see, the difference is this one has marshmallow creme added to the mix (not included with recipe). We're going for a Smores brownie. So crossing fingers, because this is gonna be interesting. Let's hope for the best outcome. Will let you all know how things turn out in say a little over 16 minutes.

    1. I used a suggestion someone online had given me. Instead of spraying the pan with Pam or greasing it, I lined the bottom of the pan with wax paper/parchment paper. Never again. Although this wasn't too bad, the sides around the brownies stuck a little to the paper. It wasn't horrendous or anything. Just annoying. And I usually prefer a hassle free baking/cooking experience (if at all I can help it) as close as possible. I am no Martha Stewart. But overall, these "dehydrated brownies" came out pretty good! They were ooey and gooey, just like everyone had hoped for. The added marshmallow creme made it all the more gooey with it's added stickiness (slightly. Not over doing it there). I had also lined the pan with a thin layer of graham cracker crumbs, after the wax paper. Anywho, although the batter was thicker than expected (for obvious accidental reasons), the outcome was not at all a disappointment. 😁 *whew* All a part of a happy little accident gone good!

  22. It's 2024, been baking for years. Still forgot the water, too busy trying to put my spin on a recipe. I knew something was wrong because my mixture was super thick and didn't yield much batter. Hopefully they will be super fudgy and gooey
