thought for the week. and then some.

"I find beauty in not only the beautiful things in life, but the bittersweet and sad as well. To me, there is something poignantly lovely about the human experience from its splendor to its grief. God created all our emotions, not just the happy ones, and for His good purposes. That's why a good cry can feel so good. And hitting our limits forces us to look outside ourselves for a Savior. It is in the plea, when we're at our end, that we can find that which is truly life-giving. Personally, my moments of deepest grief, deepest pain, have resulted in the most beautiful seasons in my heart. I've met God more intimately in those moments than in all the other pleasant ones combined. What isn't completely lovely about that?"

i look forward to all life has to throw my way and
all the experiences left to experience in the future.

cami's cure crew

last saturday, i got to take part in a really special event.

Jessica, a girl i went to high school with, has a niece, Cami, who at her young age of 5 has already experienced cancer. can you even imagine?

well, because of this amazing little girl, and many others like her, (that are FAR too young to have to go through this illness), there was a cancer cure walk at liberty park in salt lake. they started off the morning by introducing all the precious cancer patients. then they let them all let a white balloon go into the sky along with a moment of silence for all the kids that battled cancer and had their lives taken away.

over 1400 people showed up to walk and they raised over $72,000 to go towards cancer patients and cancer research!
how awesome is that?!! it was the biggest walk this year to date. go slc.

i spent most the walk with the lovely Sarah, playing catch up and just enjoying the beautiful summer morning. we also met up with Casey and Jess!

but the best part was tagging along right behind the girl of honor, the reason we walked in the first place - this cute girl Cami!

it was seriously such a special experience. this disease isn't something Cami asked for or deserves, but she is such a strong, special little girl that lights up a room and makes everyone so happy. i only got to spend a few moments with her, but i could just tell she definitely has a special spirit :)

thanks for letting me spend the morning with you, Cami!

first purchase

Jae and i spent our 4th of July afternoon at none other than IKEA!
a really american place to hang out, yes? we thought so.

like i've said before, with this house we're buying, it's a total gut it and re-do it kinda house.

when Jae and i got married, and probably even before, we planned out things we'd like in our house someday. everyone does that, right?

well, one of the very first things we put on our list that we both immediately agreed on was a farm sink.

it just so happens that IKEA has a couple of those said farm sinks. and it also just so happened on that 4th of July day, Jae and i found a fabulously LARGE farm sink for less than a THIRD of the original price! WHAAA???? i know. you're all jealous.

we most definitely bought it. these sinks are normally just over $300, (and that's the low end of pricing for these babies) and with everything else that we're going to have to buy in the next couple of months, we weren't sure we'd be able to get a farm sink right now. so basically we were SUPER excited we were able to get one. here is our first purchase for our first home!!

and here's another pic, just to kind of give you an idea of what it looks like put together in the kitchen in case you aren't familiar with them.

well there she is! our beautiful, white, HUGE double farm sink.
but seriously, it's so big and heavy. i know. i carried it.

and i know what you're thinking....it's just a sink...that's kinda weird to be so excited
about a sink. but i don't care. i'm super excited about our sink!
can't wait to have it in our new kitchen!

WAHOOOO.
